CESSWI Application Process

Overview

The following table provides an overview of the CESSWI certification process.

Application Applicant Reads and fully subscribes to the CESSWI Code of Ethics (by signing the application form). Completes/assembles application materials/fees and sends to CESSWI Administrative Office.
CESSWI Administrative Office Reviews application for completeness. If complete, sends to Application Review Committee (or designee). If incomplete, notifies applicant (application is delayed).
Review Application Review Committee Reviews application materials to determine status. Sends results to CESSWI Administrative Office.
CESSWI Administrative Office Sends appropriate letter to applicant.
Testing Qualified Applicant Investigates available exam review course and exam dates (CESSWI web site, regional and area representatives, IECA/SWCS Chapters). Schedules review course/exam with sponsoring entity.
CESSWI Administrative Office Supplies test/reference materials to entity sponsoring review course/exam.
Sponsoring Entity Provides an approved proctor to administer the CESSWI Exam in accordance with CESSWI Administrative Office directives. Returns ALL exam materials to CESSWI Administrative Office.
CESSWI Administrative Office Grades exam (passing score is ≥70%).
Certification CESSWI Administrative Office Sends appropriate letter to applicant.
Newly Certified CESSWI Complies with the purposes, policies and code of ethics of the CESSWI program.
Professional Development CESSWI Administrative Office Sends appropriate letter to applicant.
Newly Certified CESSWI Certified CESSWI completes qualified Professional Development Units (PDUs) and provides them to CESSWI Administrative Office for review and approval.
 
CESSWI Administrative Office reviews and approves PDUs and notifies Certified CESSWI of status prior to renewal date.

Application

Candidate must send to the CESSWI Administrative Office:

  1. Completed application forms

  2. Application fee

  3. References (4 required) at least one should be from a CESSWI, CPESC or CPSWQ

  4. Any additional documentation (such as, resume/vitae).

Upon receipt of an application the CESSWI Administrative Office will assess it to determine completeness. If the application is complete it will be sent to the Application Review Committee (ARC). Candidates whose materials are not complete will be notified of missing portions and their applications will be delayed.

Review

The Application Review Committee (ARC) review process takes approximately thirty (30) days. Once the results are returned to the CESSWI Administrative Office, they will be compiled and an appropriate letter will be sent to the candidate.

Testing

Information about the testing process is NOT available at this time.

Certification

The CESSWI Administrative Office will send an appropriate letter to each applicant that sits for the exam. Those applicants who receive a passing score will also receive a personalized CESSWI certificate and wallet card.

To become certified, an applicant must subscribe to the purposes, policies and code of ethics of the CESSWI Program.
