Article II. - Standards for Certification

Section 2. Eligibility Requirements

  1. Each applicant must successfully pass a written examination designed to determine proficiency in the inspection practices and the legislation governing construction activities under the authority of EPA and the Clean Water Act (for US applicants) and Canadian Environmental Protection Law (for Canadian/Provincial applicants). Applicants must also complete three (3) years or more of focused experience in inspecting land disturbing activities governed by EPA and the Clean Water Act.

  2. A formal 2 or 4 year degree in a qualified field of study may count as one (1) year only. Applicants with a related degree must complete two (2) years of focused experience in inspecting construction activities governed by EPA and the Clean Water Act (for US applicants) and Canadian Environmental Protection Law (for Canadian/Provincial applicants).

  3. Through the Inspection Experience Profile, references, and written exam, the applicant must demonstrate an ability to read sediment and erosion control drawings, observe, evaluate, and synthesize information and to report appropriate findings in a clear, logical manner.
